The character of Lyric in Marvel’s Ironheart
According to THR, Lyric Ross has been recruited as a new cast member in Marvel’s Ironheart. The actress is best recognized for her role as Deja Pearson on NBC’s This Is Us, which she has played since season 2. Ross will portray Riri Williams’ closest buddy and has yet to be given a character name. However, according to the comics, Riri’s childhood closest friend is Natalie Washington. Filming on the series is slated to begin in June, and actor Anthony Ross will also appear in it.
About Ironheart
Ironheart is one of Marvel’s most anticipated shows, with Dominique Thorne starring as Riri Williams, a brilliant engineer and designer of the most sophisticated suit of armor since Iron Man. The character was established in Marvel comics in 2016 by Brian Michael Bendis and illustrator Mike Deodato. Riri is a 15-year-old MIT student who reverse-engineers Iron Man’s armor to make her own. Iron Man eventually notices her and pushes her to seek a career as a superhero. The next Disney+ series will include six episodes and boasts a cast that consists of some up-and-coming performers.
Lyric Ross’ prospective role as Natalie Washington in Ironheart might be significant, considering Natalie and Riri were friends when they were ten years old in Chicago. Natalie was the only one who spotted Riri working on some of her ideas in the garage, and the two became great friends over time. Natalie’s journey, however, ended in sorrow when she was slain in a drive-by shooting when she was 13 years old. Riri’s stepfather was also killed in the same tragedy. Riri called her Jarvis-like A.I. NATALIE in honor of her closest friend, who seemed to be an older version of her. The series’ launch date has yet to be revealed, but Riri is slated to make her MCU debut in November 2022 with Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
