With winter in full force, many of us are wondering about one thing in particular - how to dry your washing now that hanging it in the garden is no longer an option.

Although you could just simply switch the heating on or invest in a dehumidifier, these are all costly methods millions of cash-strapped households across the UK cannot afford.

Luckily, however, one savvy cleaning enthusiast has come to rescue with a budget-friendly hack - and not only will it slash the costs, but it will also make your laundry dry in just five minutes.

The secret here, organisation expert Tor Rydder explained, is using something called the ''burrito method'', The Mirror reported.

The ''genius'' hack calls for just two things - a towel, as well as your floor.

He shared on his YouTube channel, Organizing TV: "To do the burrito method, we place a newly washed t-shirt down on a towel. Then we start by folding the t-shirt over, like so."

In the video, the pro then folded the T-shirt before layering it on top of the towel until it was fully encased.

Meanwhile, to get rid of the excess water, he pressed down on the rolled-up towel using his knees.

"The reason we do this is because the towel will absorb all of the water from the burrito. Once we unwrap it, it will be a lot drier,'' he noted.

Once the excess water has been squeezed out, the piece of clothing can be taken out of the towel.

According to the savvy cleaning enthusiast, this method "easily reduced drying time from overnight to a couple of hours".

If you want to speed up the process even more, you can also use a hair dryer for five minutes - but this isn't necessary.

The guru's so-called ''burrito'' hack has also been praised by a number of social media users, who claimed that it indeed worked like a charm.

One happy YouTube user said: "I used these two methods and my clothes were dry in five minutes."

Meanwhile, another person even called the cleaning whizz a "genius".

However, there are also plenty of other hacks to cut the drying time, Fabulous recently found out chatting to Petya Holevich, a home maintenance expert.

Reduce the laundry load

The laundry expert explained: "Overloading the appliance with too many items can actually result in them being damper and more creased.

"This won’t only make the drying time longer, but you’ll also need to do more ironing afterwards."

Use coat hangers

Coat hangers can also be used to hang more clothes on a drying rack and allowing more air to circulate them.

You can also hang them on your curtain rail in the sun and the best part is that it will reduce the likelihood of your clothes needing ironing after, the pro added.

Group similar fabrics together

As well as reducing your laundry load, it's important to make sure you group similar materials together after drying them, the whizz said.

"Lightweight fabrics, such as cotton and linen, tend to dry quicker than heavier materials, such as denim or wool, so it’ll be a smarter choice to put them together.''
